The Project comprised of the refurbishment of the existing heating system, the construction of a new external pant room and DDA toilet, the Installation of 3 high velocity water heaters and the installation of the new hotel lift. Within the boiler room the removal of the asbestos painted walls was undertaken, the hotel is a grade II listed building, and MBC ensured that all works carried out followed the strict planning department conditions.
The mechanical works comprised of striping out the Boilers, pump sets, expansion vessels and pipework to high level. The system was then reconfigured to allow for more efficient boilers also to work on more efficient pumps all within the existing plant room. Within the new external plant room 3 high velocity water heaters. The installation of a new gas supply and all pipework connecting into the existing hot water system. Part of the extension was a DDA toilet, this has been fitted out with modern and stylish vibe.
The electrical works comprised of striping all services back to the distribution boards. The installation of a new distribution board within the plant room. Electrical services for all the boilers, pumps, inverters, new lighting circuits, power sockets and control panel within the basement plant room. Within the new external plant room the installation of a new distribution board and control panel for the 3 hot water heaters. Modifications to the Heating control panels which control the temperatures of the conference areas.
The introduction of a new lift to replace the existing lift, the new lift has increased in size and lifting capacity all within the existing shaft.
Whilst the works were being carried out the hotel was still operational, MBC had to incorporate within our Health and Safety plans for members of the public to be in close proximity. Liaising with the hotel management team to program in works which may disrupt guests and events taking place.
